Research explanation

What the approach asks

The question concerns adults with cerebral palsy and chronic early-acquired brain injury. This page is the explanation. It is not a protocol.

Observational research

Characterising motor networks before considering intervention.

A diagnosis does not by itself describe which motor pathways remain available, what limits daily function, or which later questions are even worth designing. The approach is to characterise those networks, and to treat any later idea as unearned until that description exists.

A short sequence

This is a proposed order of work, not a treatment protocol.

  1. Clinical description. Injury timing, impairment pattern, and what has already been tried.
  2. Imaging and physiology, where a future protocol justifies them. Structural imaging and specialist measures are candidates for a design, not tools this site operates.
  3. Function in daily life. Reaching, hand use, mobility, and participation, alongside any scan.
  4. Only then, a decision. Whether any adjunct question, including delivery, deserves a separate study.

Boundaries

  • PHENO-001 is a proposed observational, non-interventional concept. It is not underway, not approved, and not ethics-cleared.
  • Not enrolling. This website does not seek participants.
  • A federated model is contemplated. In that idea, hospital data would remain at the hospital. That model has its own page.
  • Delivery questions are not treatment. They are written on the focused ultrasound page.
